Educational projects

Raising awareness and education are, apart from food collection and distribution, the second pillar of daily BŻK operations. We aim to spread good habits when it comes to handling food at home and in commercial settings, but also to instil pro-active attitudes among the inhabitants of Lesser Poland.

We have been organizing and helping organize a large number of educational and informational campaigns related to food waste, nutrition education and household bookkeeping techniques. We reach out to people of all ages, children and parents, pensioners and retirees, and anyone else looking to improve their social footprint.

Professional dieticians, personal trainers and chefs contribute their time by leading workshops, performing displays, giving lectures and talks, organizing debates and community meetings.

Events organized by or in cooperation with the Kraków Food Bank:

  • “The first 1000 days for health” – a campaign against the malnutrition of newborn babies
  • Debates about diet and nutrition at schools
  • The “Healthy and Delicious” project
  • The Polish edition of MasterChef
  • Food Strikes – manifestations to raise awareness of food waste
  • The “History Without Hunger” project
  • The “Eco: Follow the Food” project
  • The “Eco: Mission” project
  • The “I don’t waste food, I take care of the environment” project

and many more.

Additionally, the Kraków Food Bank takes part in numerous events organized by regional governing bodies (gminy, powiaty) at schools and other venues. We take active part in the celebrations of World Food Day, the Krakow Family Day, the World Day of the Poor or NGO Day.
