FEAD

FEAD is an operational programme partially financed by EU funds aiming to support the most deprived persons and families.

The programme is meant for those who find themselves in a financial crisis and whose monthly income does not exceed:

1,707.20 PLN for those who live on their own
1,320.00 PLN for those who live with their family

How to apply for food aid:

  • Apply to the Social Welfare Center (Ośrodek Pomocy Społecznej, OPS) in your area of residence or to one of our partner organizations responsible for redistributing food products
  • If the applicant meets the criteria for receiving aid they will receive a confirmation document that will allow them to pick up food items in the listed locations

The food items are delivered by local partner organizations in the form of food packages or meals.

A food package is a set of products delivered free of charge via the FEAD operational programme. It includes articles such as vegetables, fruit, meat, sugar or oil. The detailed list of items in a package is described in the guidelines for each sub-programme.

In some cases, e.g. dietary requirements for medical reasons, the contents of the package may be adjusted to better fit the needs of the recipient.

Our meals are prepared by the local partner organizations such as soup kitchens or homeless centers. They are prepared on site and given away in kitchen-equipped locations. Partner organizations are chosen locally based on their applications for aid via one of the FEAD sub-programmes.

Auxiliary actions and initiatives

Another important part of the FEAD project are events and workshops directed towards aid recipients. These consist of training sessions and workshops on the following subjects:

  • Food preparation
  • Diet and nutrition
  • Home budget management techniques
  • Preventing food waste

These events take place at the locations provided by local partner organizations of a sub-programme and are attended by the recipients of the above-mentioned food products. Information about upcoming events is available via the Kraków Food Bank website.

Anyone who has received their confirmation document from the relevant Social Welfare Center (OPS) automatically has access to the events hosted by KFB local partner organizations.
